Grosser Kiepenkerl in Muenster

The two of us have a Christmas menu for December 24th. ordered. Great! Delicious! Just wow! The food only had to be prepared briefly, but was prepared in such a way that the vacuumed packages with the individual components of the meal had to simmer in hot water and individual items briefly in the oven. Mega good! We hope that this offer will continue to exist after Corona :) Thanks for the idea, big compliments to the kitchen and thanks to the staff that made these packages and the handling possible!

We had the food delivered to our home. We loved the service, punctuality and the fantastic food. It was just perfect. There was even a nice present as a gift for our wedding. One can only recommend this restaurant. Very good quality meat from regional sources.

When we are in Münster, we always like to come. The dishes are deliciously prepared, you sit outside and inside very nice and cozy. Happy to be back soon!

Always a highlight when visiting Münster! I have dined here a few times and the food tastes great every time. The potato soup is extremely creamy and delicious, the Königsberger Klopse very, very good. All dishes are great. In addition, the service here is perfect, always extremely friendly and very attentive, as well as quick and always with nice sayings a great accompaniment to the delicious food. Price-performance is unbeatable for us. The selection is great, with also many vegetarian dishes and Westphalian specialties. The decor shines and everything in all nothing to complain about. Keep it up ! I'm looking forward to the next visit.

Good food, nice service, good location, highly recommended. As a side note: a few years ago a mentally ill drove through the terrace of the restaurant and killed and injured a few people.

The perfect restaurant for a nice evening in Münster! The service was excellent and did not let the corona-related restrictions disturb it. The service at our table was extremely friendly and attentive in a way that I haven't seen in a long time. For a few minutes of waiting for our reservation, there was an unsolicited drinks round on the house. The home-style food came quickly, was perfectly presented, tasted very tasty and really left nothing to be desired. In any case, the original menu offers something suitable for every taste. We will definitely come back here again and again!

Took so much time to get the food, and the food wasn't enough

Food was okay, but for the price I would have expected more, also in terms of quantity. The service completely overwhelmed (but friendly), ordered 3 soups, one came ... the corridor after that took almost another hour although it was answered in the affirmative that we don't need a break. How long would it have taken if we wanted a break?

I am a regular guest here and always feel very comfortable. The service is friendly and attentive and the cuisine is wonderfully rustic and tasty. In the middle of the city center, the Kiepenkerl is also very centrally located.

Me and me were there yesterday, the staff totally overwhelmed. The conditions were walking around with food and did not know at which table. We only got our drinks after we asked again. Customers to the right and left of the customers came later and already had their drinks. The service felt offended by us and reacted irritably. I had ordered a ciche of the day for 14.90 my a puzztaschnitzel for 16.90. The price-performance ratio was not right at all. The schnitzel was a children's plate and my ciche was sticky and very small, but I got a lot of salad that was mostly from Green stuff existed. In terms of taste, it was OK. The prices were completely excessive. Just because the Kiepkerl is one of Münster's landmarks, you don't have to rip off customers. For us NEVER again.

Nice building and pleasant ambience. Very nice selection of seasonal dishes for good prices. The food tasted really good and the service was very attentive. Always happy to be in Münster!

Usually we always go to the Gasthaus Lewe when we are in Münster. By chance we "ended up" in the Großer Kiepenkerl, where not only the friendliness of the service staff, but also the quality of the food was excellent. The effort to ensure animal welfare when buying meat, which you also tasted, is praiseworthy, and as a guest you feel very safe in times of Corona. Hygiene is really taken very seriously. We will really like to come back and have now found a new favorite restaurant in Münster (next to Gasthaus Lewe).

We have already been guests at the Großer Kiepenkerl several times. The food and drinks are excellent. No run-of-the-mill, but imaginative creations combined with tradition. If something does not go perfectly straight away, improvements are made to 110%. We'll be back ☺.

We ate very spontaneously yesterday with 4 people in the large Kiepenkerl. We actually wanted to sit outside first ... The friendly waitress assigned us the last free table in the restaurant, as the outside seats were closed due to the changeable weather. Fortunately, it was raining less than half an hour later. ? It was so good that we were promptly there again today. This time a nice sunny spot outside, as requested the day before. The waitress recognized us and promised a fair weather guarantee today. You feel really well taken care of. We'll be back soon.

The whole shop was empty! My girlfriend and I wanted to sit outside and have a drink, but we were sent away because we didn't want to eat. Then we went to an inn next door and we had a drink there, so the shop was still empty when we left. You don't need to be surprised if you don't make any sales!

First of all: great location in the historic old town of Münster. Then the Kiepenkerl monument in the middle of the beer garden, great atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff and absolutely familiar with the Corona safety regulations, everything is implemented meticulously, but not annoying. As expected, the prices of the dishes increased a bit, but when you see what you get for it, they are again very reasonable. I would be happy to recommend this place to others, both for a short stop and for a quick snack or a long meal. Everything was great, very nice stay!

The cook knows his trade. The meat was fried very well and the vegetables still had some bite to it. It's a shame that we don't enjoy it more often.

Well-tended gastronomy with high standards. Pleasant Westphalian atmosphere, dishes from regional sources with class. Very tasty food and a nice service team who can do it easily. The somewhat higher price level is more than appropriate for this. Highly recommended and a local institution in Münster anyway. Top ?

If I could award six stars I would do it. Top food (high quality, sustainable meat including many vegetarian dishes), nevertheless good prices, great service, in Corona times good hygiene concept with its own mask and small disinfectant. Will definitely be back.

Really great old place, great food and lovely staff.

You can't get more friendly. We felt very well looked after and the food is awesome! The schnitzel was juicy and crispy, the fried potato was not oily and very crispy. Top! Please keep it up. When we are back in Münster, you are our first point of contact for lunch.

Excellent food, and you don't have to wait very long either. The atmosphere was good. I would have liked a better table, but it was fairly crowded so it can't be helped. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Münster.

This is an excellent restaurant all round. A great location in the heart of Münster, a lovely atmosphere and, most importantly, excellent food. The staff are attentive and well informed about the menu. This restaurant sources much of its produce from farms that are predominantly local and keep their animals in an ethical manner. There is a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options and the restaurant shows an awareness of the importance of using fresh, seasonal and organic food, keeping an eye on food miles and caring about the provenance of the food it serves.

Delicious rustic German food and super-friendly staff; we had a fantastic family meal here and had no trouble ordering in English or German, including special requests. It's a little pricy, but definitely fair for the quality you get. They also have two varieties of house beer (dark and light), both of which are excellent. Absolutely worth a visit!

We've also been to the restaurant next to this. At first this one had a slightly lower rating so we went to the other one first and tried this one. Surprisingly the service the food and the staff were really good. Their dark beer is worth a try.

Friendly staff, though dressed quite formal. Typical German food, well prepared. Outside was very charming. Inside was divided into a nice, warm sitting area and a more cold area, that seemed like a hallway with tables. Unfortunately we were seated there, right next to the entrance and the toilet area. Also the beer selection was a little bare.
